The Nikon F is one of the most famous film cameras in history. At it's most general, it is a 35mm SLR camera designed to use the Nikon F lens mount. It is an all-mechanical beast of a camera that still works beautifully even half a century after they were first built. The Nikon F has all manual shutter speed control (1 second to 1/1000, plus Bulb and Time) and aperture control. The Nikon F features interchangeable lenses, prisms, focusing screens and film backs. The camera does not have a light meter, nor a battery. Instead, the light meter was found in various prisms that can be attached to the camera. Likewise, the Nikon F lacks a hotshoe adapter for flash and a specific Nikon F flash coupler accessory is required to mount a flash to the camera.
For years the Nikon F was THE professional camera and they traveled all over the world making pictures. If you are looking for a long-term film camera companion, the Nikon F will prove to be a reliable friend.
